As someone who has driven neither, how does it compare to the Nissan Pao? As a US driver, which would be more worthwhile to import for the experience of driving once or twice a week?

It doesn’t compare is ANY way... The Pao is a Nissan Micra with a cool looking body. It’s an econobox that drives like a 30 year old Kia Rio (yeah that’s mean but that’s a good way to describe it). The Mini is a chiwawa on steroids. It still can’t do much in term of power but damn, it feels crazy! Everything about the Mini is rough, hardcore and insane. It’s a cornering BEAST. It’s genuine fast car on anything other that a straight line and the greatest inertia car ever created... Funnest car to play with in a busy city on in the mountains.

I don’t see them go up like crazy... and ‘99 are not the best if I’m honest. They are much heavier with fuel injected engines that simply don’t provide the same excitement as a webber carbureted Mini...

I would love to one day own a Mini Van or a Countryman/Traveler. Something about an old school Mini that’s also a wagon with barn doors scratches all the itches for me.

Have a ‘99 up in Canada. Prices are around $10K US currently, depending on quality. But if it happens like the skylines, once they are legal in the US, the prices will jump up.
